Play some Math games today!  Play with a family member or invite a friend to play with you online.

Rock, Paper Scissors Multiplication - 2 player game
Watch video to see example of the game:

How to Play:
1. Opposing players will face each other.
2. Each player will decide on  a number between 0 - 5 to represent with their fingers.
3. The players will say, “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Math” and then reveal their fingers to the opposing player.
4. Multiply together the numbers that are revealed.
5. Whoever says the answer first wins that round.  Play 10 rounds.

War - 2 player game
Need: deck of cards
Click link for online deck of cards:    https://deck.of.cards/
Watch video to see example of the game:

How to Play:
  1.  Each player is dealt 26 cards.
  2.  Each player places a card down at the same time (next to each
  3. other).
  4.  Multiply the 2 numbers together.
  5. Jack, Queen, King = 10  Ace = 11
  6.  The person who answers first correctly wins the round and keeps both cards.  If there is a tie, each player keeps their own card.
  7.  Continue playing until all the cards are gone.
  8. The winner is the player who has the most cards at the end.

Salute - 3 player game
Need - deck of cards
Click link for online deck of cards:    https://deck.of.cards/
Watch video to see example of the game:

How to Play:
  1. Choose the Dealer.
  2. The dealer deals out the cards evenly to the other two players.
  3. The two players with cards sit facing each other.
  4. The dealer says “Salute!” and each player holds a card from the top of his pile to his forehead with the number facing out.
  5. Addition– the Dealer calls out the sum of the two numbers.  For example 3 + 6 is 9.
  6. Multiplication – the Dealer calls out the product of the two numbers.  For example 3 x 6 is 18.
  7. Jack, Queen, King = 10  Ace =11
  8. Each of the two players now tries to yell out the number on his forehead (which they cannot see!) based on the answer the dealer has given.
  9. The winner takes both cards.
  10. You can rotate the cards each turn so each player gets a chance to yell “Salute!”.  Or, play through the cards three times to see which player ends with the highest stack after all three players have a chance to be the Dealer.

Pandher's class.

Click HERE for an example of what your list should look like.  Please rank order your list starting with number 1 as the most important.

Your list must have:

  • first and last names of your friends (don't worry about spelling)
  • division numbers

Please submit to your teacher and name it, Friends_Your Name.

Here's a video to remind you about the BEDMAS rules.  Click HERE for the video.

Task #1

Your task today is to choose 5 of the most important items from your story. Your book will be the 6th item in your bento box picture.

Literacy

1.  Continue to do your home reading log responses. They are due Monday.

2.  Your graphic organizers for your home reading are due today.

Now, onto today's assignment:

Have you ever had a Bento Box before?  What do you notice about the food?

You have likely noticed that food is in compartments, separated from one another.  Each compartment might be a different category of food or separated by sweet or salty, meat or vegetable.

You are going to be creating your very own BOOK BENTO BOX image for the book that you've been reading during your remote learning. Each item chosen around the book has some significance to the story and main character.

We created a Book Bento Box for the book, Out of My Mind, below.

Task #1 - Can you see the significance behind each of the objects we chose?

We will discuss the possibilities further during today's Google Meet. Be prepared to have some ideas to share with the group.

To learn more about Book Bentos, you can find some examples HERE and see some examples below:

Task #2

Over the weekend, think about the items that you could include in your Book Bento box image. You should have no more than 8 items for your initial brainstorm. Start collecting them. These items should make sense and be an important part of your story's theme, represent your main character or actually appear in your story.  Be prepared with your list or actual items for Monday.

Numeracy
