How to Play:
1. Opposing players will face each other.
2. Each player will decide on  a number between 0 - 5 to represent with their fingers.
3. The players will say, “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Math” and then reveal their fingers to the opposing player.
4. Multiply together the numbers that are revealed.
5. Whoever says the answer first wins that round.  Play 10 rounds.

War - 2 player game
Need: deck of cards
Click link for online deck of cards:    https://deck.of.cards/
Watch video to see example of the game:

How to Play:
  1.  Each player is dealt 26 cards.
  2.  Each player places a card down at the same time (next to each
  3. other).
  4.  Multiply the 2 numbers together.
  5. Jack, Queen, King = 10  Ace = 11
  6.  The person who answers first correctly wins the round and keeps both cards.  If there is a tie, each player keeps their own card.
  7.  Continue playing until all the cards are gone.
  8. The winner is the player who has the most cards at the end.

Salute - 3 player game
Need - deck of cards
Click link for online deck of cards:    https://deck.of.cards/
Watch video to see example of the game:

How to Play:

  5. Addition– the Dealer calls out the sum of the two numbers.  For example 3 + 6 is 9.
  6. Multiplication – the Dealer calls out the product of the two numbers.  For example 3 x 6 is 18.
  7. Jack, Queen, King = 10  Ace =11
  8. Each of the two players now tries to yell out the number on his forehead (which they cannot see!) based on the answer the dealer has given.
  9. The winner takes both cards.
  10. You can rotate the cards each turn so each player gets a chance to yell “Salute!”.  Or, play through the cards three times to see which player ends with the highest stack after all three players have a chance to be the Dealer.

HACE:

We are starting to plan for next year!  That means that we will be looking at creating new classes so Grade 6's this next assignment is for you.

Grade 6's MUST DO:

Please make a list of 5 people that you would like to have in your class for next year in grade 7.  The Pod C teachers will do our very best to have 1 person from your list in your class next year.  We are not making any promises but assure you that we understand that it is really important for you to have a buddy in your class.  Think about ALL of the gr 6 students in the school in Pod C as well as Mr. H. Pandher's class.

Click HERE for an example of what your list should look like.  Please rank order your list starting with number 1 as the most important.

Your list must have:

  • YOUR NAME at the top (first and last)
  • first and last names of your friends (don't worry about spelling)
  • division numbers

Please submit to your teacher and name it, Friends_Your Name.

NUMERACY:  More solving for algebraic expressions today.

Task 1:  Watch yesterday's video again to refresh your memory.  Click HERE for the video.

Task 2:  Click HERE for your worksheet.  Name it Calculate_your name.   If you see something that looks like question #4 on the worksheet where it says: d/2, that means d divided by 2.  You will also see questions that involve the order of operations like # 12 & #13.  Do you remember BEDMAS?

Here's a video to remind you about the BEDMAS rules.  Click HERE for the video.

Literacy

1.  Your home reading log is due now.

2. Today, you're going to continue building ideas for your Book Bento Box. On Friday, we talked about the possible significance of the items in the bento box of Out Of My Mind, below.

You were asked to collect up to 8 items that had some significance to your story.

Task #1

Your task today is to choose 5 of the most important items from your story. Your book will be the 6th item in your bento box picture.
  • Arrange your items and your book in a bento box formation of your choice.  Your box should be in the shape of a square or a rectangle.
  • Edit your picture to crop out any other images that should not appear in your bento box
  • If you don't have the actual book, print off a picture of your book so that we can clearly see the title or draw a simple picture of the book cover.
  • You will have a total of 6 items in your bento box
  • Take a picture of your book bento box (bird's eye view) just like the example. We should be able to clearly see each item.
Share your picture and name it Book Bento _ Your Name today.
